Dinner a la carte (breakfast, lunch and dinner 9/10/09)

Lots of pictures today - I've been so unbelievably busy it's not even funny...school is taking up so much time of my day. I wake up, walk, eat breakfast, start school, eat lunch, finish school, do chores, eat dinner, clean up, say my prayers, flop into bed and do the whole thing over again - just like Keaghan! Today was nice, even though we didn't go walking this morning. My mom had to have a tooth pulled so we've stayed home in the mornings the past few days; thankfully, we've been able to make up for it by going to the gym.

(Darn. The pics aren't behaving and letting me cut them into the middle of the post...they all want to be at the top!)

Today went pretty well. I woke up early and had a strawberry-banana smoothie (my first in days - yum!) and started to have a croissant with Nutella, but threw it away (it was stale and yucky...less then healthy as well) and began again with some toast. I wish I had chosen a whole grain waffle though, because they smelled amazing when the my mom and sister had some for their breakfast. Lunch and dinner were delicious though and more then made up for the croissant! I had a slice of my leftover veggie pizza for lunch with some cukes, watermelon, grapes and hummus. For dinner I made myself a taco salad which turned out HUGE and was so amazing - I threw in lettuce, green peppers, torn up tortilla, fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, some shredded cheese, avocado and salsa. I was, "pleasently stuffed to the gills," as my Will puts it. ;) I noticed halfway through eating that the new salsa I had gotten was "Medium" in stead of "Mild", which would explain why it was hotter then usual! I ended my meal on a cool note with some creamy fat-free Weight Watchers ( I love their yogurt) vanilla yogurt and some fresh strawberries which hit the spot...I have to say, it was better then ice cream...though I might think that because I haven't had ice cream in a while. :)

Oh, and as a snack I had some unsweetened applesauce sprinkled with wheat germ and flaxseed, with some grapes and raisins...I was craving a Signature hot chocolate from Startbucks like crazy this morning - it was so cold! I was at the kitchen table curled up in a blanket with my fuzzie socks on! Got to back to the gym this evening and walked/ran for 20 min. Maybe now I can have that hot chocolate! ;)

All Smoothied Up (Breakfast 9/7/09)

I woke up at 4:30, saw the time, rolled back over, shut my eyes and enjoyed my remaining 15 minutes of sleep. Then, on time, at 4:45 the alarm went off - time to get up! We start our days pretty early now...we were out of the house by 5:15 and I managed to get some nice brisk walking in (make that really brisk) because we ( my dad and I) were trying to catch up with my mom and youngest sister who had gotten a head start. All in all, I'm pretty happy with this morning's walk/run (I call it a run but it's really not..no idea why I do. Maybe because it just sounds better!). Today promises to be very busy - I have to work this afternoon so I better go do my school! This morning I had a peanut butter smoothie (fat-free milk, ice, peanut butter, vanilla protein powder, wheat germ, and a banana) and just a few blueberries and strawberries which I cut up into tiny pieces. I told myself I wasn't going to have a smoothie for breakfast today -I've had one every single morning since I got my braces- but I couldn't resist the last of the peanut butter in the jar! We have a second one thankfully, ready to be open so that will be enjoyed soon. Tomorrow I'm going to be strong and NOT have a smoothie for breakfast...I'm going to try and do the every-other-day thing with that...let's see how it works out!

Welcome to Good Eatings!

Hello, everyone! This, quite simply put, is a second little blog of mine where I am going to share all my meals with you! I am doing so, after being inspired by Cristin Dillion-Jones, a registered dietian who blogs everything she eats for SELF magazine. She posts all of her meals with pictures and a short post about what she's eaten, her day and the exercise she's gotten in.

I stumbled upon Cristin's blog a few months ago, on Self.com and was so taken with the idea of documenting everything you eat by taking a picture, that I have been doing so for a few weeks. I've tried and failed before to keep a food diary...this however seems to work much better, and it's so much easier! All I do is borrow my mom's iPhone and click, the picture's been taken, my meal is captured (on film, that is ;)) and I can look back at it anytime I want.

I'm going to be posting pictures of everything (well, nearly - there might be a few instances where I won't have the camera, etc.) that I eat. I've found that it's helped immensely...when you realize you'll have to take a picture and have photogenic evidence, those M&Ms aren't quite as tempting. It's also so encouraging to look back and see if you've been eating healthy...it does wonders for self-confidence and pride in yourself. :) So here I go, off on this new adventure, with the hopes that you all will enjoy yourself...and who knows? Maybe one of you will be inspired just as I was. See you in the morning!
